Open source

A lot of what we do is powered by open source technology. We rely on open source tools to perform to the degree required by our clients and also to improve our various business processes. Some of the tools we use are:

  • Zabbix – for server monitoring on behalf of our clients
  • Piwik – for collation of website visitor statistics
  • Drupal – as a Content Management System for our websites
  • CentOS/Debian –  as operating systems for our servers
  • Redmine – for web-based project management

Customization to meet specific needs
Our use of open source technology allows us to extensively customize our favorite tools in order to meet your specific needs; something that would be cumbersome to do with closed source technology.

Contribution to the cycle of development
Our reliance and preference for open source technology is not a one-way street. Just as we benefit from the technology we also wish to contribute to the cycle of its development. We offer our own contributions to projects that have influenced our business and professional efforts in a positive manner. Our contributions not only benefit the open source community at large, but help us as well, because we receive important feedback on how to further improve aspects of technology which we benefit from as a business and as IT professionals.

Sharing codes
Contributions we make regularly include the sharing of code we have developed for open source software projects, participation in mailing lists, providing free assistance to other users of open source technology through Twitter, filing bug reports, contributing to the Zabbix RPM repository and generally spreading the word about great open source projects at networking events.
