We aren’t all statistics at Tribily; we’re a company made up of people with social concerns and one of these concerns has to do with the environment and improving environmental sustainability. We’re currently making strides towards becoming a truly green company by engaging in the following green measures:
Shorter commutes
All workers at Tribily actually telecommute, meaning that our work commutes are no greater or more energy consuming than a person walking from their bed to their study. This also means that we don't have to charge you for transport allowances incurred by employees moving from their homes to the office every morning. Telecommuting additionally means that no one is burning fuel trying to rush to the office, so at the end of the day our employees reduce their collective carbon footprint and help the environment.
Virtual server technology
Physical servers take up a lot of space and consume energy as well. At Tribily however, we cut down on the number of such servers and on the amount of energy consumed by using virtual server technology. Think of what would be the case if we had a physical server for every operating system or purpose we required one for. By keeping our servers mostly virtual we use less hardware and less energy which in turn contributes to a better environment.
Use of less paper
The use of paper is tied to the felling of trees, which in turn is a contributory factor to degradation of the environment and desertification. This destroys the environment and habitats of various living organisms. Because we mostly telecommute at Tribily, the use of paper is kept to a minimum. Any internal memos or messages can be sent by email and we pay our workers and invoice clients electronically so we don't really print on paper unless there is no other option. When we do have to buy paper, we make sure we do so from companies known to engage in ethical paper production where allowances are made for trees to grow after they have been felled.
Carbon Offsetting
This is one means of contributing to environmental sustainability which we are actively looking to implement in our green strategy at Tribily. Carbon offsetting involves investing in companies or initiatives that are environmentally friendly, in order to compensate for personal or collective activities that contribute to carbon emissions like flying from one country to another.
Benefit to our collective future
By contributing our own efforts towards environmentally sustainability and striving to become truly green, we help sustain a trend that is set to benefit our collective future, that of the planet and of generations to come.
